Process
At the beginning of this project, I began to think about the topic I wanted to do. At first I think of subject i'm more familiar and also close to me as it will be easy for me to take picture and do some research of it. And while I was daydreaming in class while looking at my Laptop, the idea suddenly struck my mind of taking a laptop topic which are about all the laptop in our class. Hence I start my quest of finding a topic for my laptop, it ended with thinking of a final idea of, Future Graphic designer's Laptop, targeting soon to be graphic designer to enlighten them of which PC category or Laptop to pick from. I since then started by making a questionnaire by asking my classmates whats the brand of their PC, the reason of buying it, price, how they bought it, their emotion towards it, their bittersweet with it, their favorite color and also favorite fonts. Soon I started taking pictures of my class mate laptop specs by using the Dxdiag command.
The command is use for checking the internals of a computer (except the storage, storage type, laptop size and screen size) by doing this I can obtain the CPU, GPU, RAM, screen resolution and windows version. After that I undergo a night of deep research to obtain the rest of the miss out specs online plus the colour gamut of the screen as colour is important for graphics designer.
Shortly after that I began taking pictures of the laptop and sometimes together with its owner and then editing it according to their preferred colour with a little vignette filter on top of it and also a whited and slightly washed off background with a vibrant main classmate + the computer.
For the upcoming step, I find some inspiration online as in the layout and overall design of my publication. I decided on a minimalist life stylish layout design. I later start to experimenting with fonts, size and its leading to decide the readability, I decided on a san serif typeface the specs sub text as specs are modern and technology-feeling and serif on story as sit able to reflect on the old times and also give people the emotionally feeling of old and engaging.
Reflection
Experience
This is the 2nd time on finding topic and doing a publication. The first one is just a magazine publication and only 2 pages, shallow content and research is needed. But this is a 18 page publication, I need to grind 18 pages of content and that is challenging for me but nevertheless I managed to finish it. It is a whole new thing for me as I gain many knowledge through the process and inspiration from others.
Observation
Overall this project is quite challenging in terms of finding content and editing the image as they were too many to do but managed to finish it. It was a hard grind for me. And especially my friends those who did drawing, I saw them suffer as they need to draw, scan and colour it manual or digitally.
I think my photo shooting and editing skills needed an extra push as I'm not much of a photographer myself.
FINDINGS
Throughout the whole process, I felt that its good and stressed as I was challenged to this grinding. However, there are few things that still need refinement as it was kinda bad. But overall im just glad im managed to finish everything.
